Better Help #3

The trilogy is complete! Here is the 3rd installation of these devlogs. Frankly, I had my doubts about devlogs but they are kind of fun and cool to keep track of your progress.

Anyways, for this build, we improved the chatting with the NPC. The chat no longer fills up with useless, "Sorry, ..." messages but now NPC just ghosts you instead.  (No pun intended) We achieved this by implementing a moving profile picture that tracks where the NPC is related to the conversation. It is similar to how Facebook Messenger "message seen" system works. It's not perfect and has a minor bug where the tracker collides with the message for a while before moving down but we think it's good enough to be at least tested by you guys.
Another important takeaway from the previous build was that the words people inputted were similar words but not the exact word so to avoid causing frustration the system now accepts a broader range of words.
Lastly, we implemented a dynamic helping system to get the players back on track if they input too many wrong words. That is to guide them towards the goal of clearing the image. The system is very basic and rigid right now so we'll definitely need to improve it in the future.

Next Steps
 - Showcase the art style and mockup
 - Communicate with the NPC with more than single words
Both these steps are major parts that we're still working on and hopefully will get to showcase them as soon as possible. If for some reason we can't, we'll share some ideas on how the story of game is incorporated into the gameplay.

Until then, give a our latest build a try and share your feelings!

Stay safe, cheers!
